IRC-Galleria
IRC-Galleria is largest virtual community in Finland. It was founded in December 2000 by Tomi Lintela IRC-Galleria is a photo gallery community and the users in order to join this community have to have at least one photograph. Users can communicate in IRC-Galleria by typing short messages and comments each of which is associated with either a picture or a community. Comments are only visible to those who are logged in. IRC-Galleria has 400.000 registerd users and 6 million images. Membership to IRC-Galleria is limited to people who can speak finnish. The users of IRC-Galleria age between 13 and 20 years. Users can be members of atleast 50 communities simultaneously. Some of the communities are representations of actual IRC channels, and joining them requires IRC-based identification.
