Orkut
Orkut is a social networking website created for people to be in touch with there friends. It was launched on January 2004 by company Google. To create a profile on Orkut user require invitation from the member of Orkut community but since October 2006, Orkut has permitted users to create accounts without any invitation. User of Orkut has to fill all personal as well as professional information regarding himself. User can also upload his or her photo on his profile. Its according to users wish that he or she can also completely remove profile photo if they wish.
Orkut has a unique feature like "Scrapbook", and "Communities". Users can scrap on another member's scrap book, even if that member is offline. The scrap recipient will be able to see it when he or she visits their scrapbook. Contrary to personal messaging or email, scrap book entries are public, meaning that any one with an Orkut account can read others' scraps. Users can reply to a scrap from their scrapbook itself. Scraps can also be in html allowing users to post photos, videos, audio files and other embedded objects directly into other’s scrapbook. There is one more unique feature of Orkut that is "Communities". Anyone with an Orkut account can create a community on anything. Users can even post topics, inform users about an event, ask them questions or just play games.
